Overview

Semax is a synthetic peptide derived from ACTH (adrenocorticotropic hormone), specifically the fragment ACTH(4-7) with the addition of Pro-Gly-Pro. Developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics, Russian Academy of Sciences, it has been studied for neuroprotective, nootropic, and neurotrophic properties. It is approved in Russia and Ukraine for stroke, cognitive disorders, and optic nerve diseases.
